3rd World Forum of Human Rights will take place at the International Convention Center of Nantes Métropole from the 30th of June to the 3rd of July 2008. A documentary screening on the themes of right to land, migrant's rights, women's rights, illegal immigrants' rights, right of housing is also organized ... A special documentary programme will be presented by Fragments on Thurdsday, the 3rd of July 2008.

The feast of Spring arrives, and migrant workers who have left their family to go to work in town return
to their homes. A cheap ticket is their first choice. The annual crowding of rail transport is under

12.20 pm : Railroad of hope by Ning Ying (56 mn, 2001)
Every year, several thousands of migrant workers leave their province of Sechuan in crowded trains
that take them 3000 kilometres to the West of China, where the harvest of vast cotton fields requires
abundant manual labour. Along the way, these peasants from poor inland regions, most of whom are
leaving the village of their birth for the first time, confide their concerns and their despair to the
camera.

1.30 pm : Year by Year by Liu Wei (48 mn, 2005)
Year by Year follows the “petitioners” from the village of Dongzhuang, in Beijing during the Chinese
New Year in 2004. They have no housing and have difficulties returning home. This documentary
describes their life and their experience. Every year in China, many petitioners raise their voices by
devoting their life fully to the task, and yet without any results. They are ordinary people who form a
group that is not protected. Their voice is so weak that no one listens to them.
